Fan Recompiles Diablo III: Reaper of Souls – Ultimate Evil Edition for PC

Enthusiast developer Boron853 created the unofficial project "Diablo III: Reaper of Souls," attempting to bring the Xbox 360 version of Diablo III: Reaper of Souls – Ultimate Evil Edition to modern Windows PCs. The project retains the console version's offline play and up to four-player local co-op features, and supports keyboard, mouse, and multiple controllers.

The project uses the ReXGlue SDK to statically recompile the original PowerPC code into native x64 code, then recreates the system functions required by the Xbox 360 through a high-level simulation layer based on Xenia. Its technical approach does not involve directly running a traditional console emulator; users need to prepare their own Xbox 360 game image.

The author provides two rendering modes: ROV, which focuses on accuracy and targets a stable 60 FPS, and the faster RTV, which claims to reach up to 240 FPS. The current version also allows players to rebind controls in-game. However, high frame rate performance is mainly based on project documentation, and independent testing remains limited.

Currently known issues include missing shadows on some characters and objects when using the D3D12 renderer. The author states that this version is stable enough to play, but there are still few reports of complete playthroughs at this stage.
