Independent studio Plotrick has announced Rustown, a narrative-driven stealth adventure game, with a release date set for June 30, 2027. Players will venture into a slum inhabited by the infected, searching for their long-lost father while evading surveillance.
In the story, the protagonist's father contracted the "Fool Virus" during the pandemic, suffering from aftereffects such as memory loss and cognitive decline before vanishing without a trace. Three years later, the father—who was presumed dead—suddenly sends a letter, prompting the protagonist to travel to its origin: the Rusty City.
The Rusty City is composed of infected individuals ostracized by society. Government authority barely reaches here, and gangs of both uninfected and infected residents are locked in conflict. Players must observe their surroundings, time their actions carefully, hide their presence, and avoid surveillance, while also using tricks and items to find opportunities to advance.
During the investigation, the protagonist will encounter characters and factions with differing stances—some will obstruct, while others offer assistance. As conversations unfold and clues connect, the reasons behind the father's disappearance, the events occurring in the city, and the relationships between various parties will gradually come to light.
Plotrick stated that they hope to deliver a heartwarming story for those weary of hatred. Rustown is currently listed for PC and Xbox Series platforms.
