CDPR recently posted a job opening for a Lead Quest Programmer, which involves multiplayer network architecture, client-server synchronization, and shared and cooperative quests. The Cyberpunk 2 team may already be considering a multiplayer environment at the quest system level, but specific modes have not yet been officially confirmed.
The job description also involves narrative content designed for multiplayer modes. This confirms that the development team is recruiting talent capable of handling multiplayer networking technologies and shared mission experiences; however, the recruitment requirements alone are not sufficient to prove that such gameplay will definitely make it into the final product.
Current speculation mainly points to two possibilities: one is adopting a full online mode similar to GTA Online, and the other is adding small-scale cooperative experiences akin to Borderlands or Baldur's Gate 3. Company Co-CEO Adam Badowski stated in 2024 that the team is considering adding "multiplayer elements" to the sequel.
Polish analyst Mateusz Chrzanowski also predicts that Cyberpunk 2 could launch in Q4 2030, with the total budget potentially rising to $400 million due to multiplayer content. Neither the timeline nor the budget has been officially confirmed, and the scale of multiplayer gameplay, its inclusion in the final product, and the ultimate release date may still change as development plans evolve.
