Report: Blizzard Assembles Large Development Team for New StarCraft II Project

Recently, content creator StarcraftHistorian cited reliable sources stating that Blizzard has assigned a large development team to a new StarCraft II project. According to the report, the team may address cheating issues first before moving on to more significant content, but Blizzard has not confirmed this claim.

Potential directions for the project include a new expansion pack and a remastered version, with the leaker believing the latter is more likely. Currently, there is no information on the project's name, development progress, or release date, and both directions remain unconfirmed speculation.

StarCraft II is currently facing low ladder activity, with numerous cheaters on the Korean server and the European server also affected. Blizzard previously reduced the starting number of workers from 12 to 8 in an attempt to slow down economic growth, but this change was not well-received by players and was reverted after a few months. At the time, Blizzard stated that new balance patches would be released in the future.

Another clue fueling remaster speculation is a notification received by German players about the impending end of Windows 7 support, which mentioned "StarCraft II Remastered." However, this could simply be a typo in the email, possibly referring to the already existing StarCraft: Remastered, so it is not sufficient proof that a StarCraft II remaster is in development.
