Peter Berg is directing and Taylor Sheridan is writing a Call of Duty movie currently in production. Berg confirmed that the film will draw inspiration from the Modern Warfare era of the series, focusing on the consequences of war and the price soldiers pay in fulfilling their duties.
While promoting his new film The Mosquito Bowl, Berg mentioned that this period includes characters such as Captain Price, Soap, Ghost, and Alex. In his view, these figures are not one-dimensional action heroes but individuals caught in complex missions, forced to confront choices and sacrifices.
The world of modern warfare is filled with violence, weapons, gear, and killing, but Berg believes its core also examines the cost of war. Soldiers choose to stand between danger and ordinary people for various reasons, while also bearing the heavy burden that comes with this duty.
Berg stated that both he and Sheridan understand this theme, so the film will not merely pursue the thrill of gunfights but will highlight the consequences of war. The movie is not expected to rely on intense, visceral violence as its primary mode of expression, unlike The Mosquito Bowl, but it will retain a strong spiritual core. Specific plot details, cast, and release date have not yet been announced.
