Tides of Annihilation: Major Changes? Developers Respond to Controversy Over Female Lead's Appearance

Recently, Tides of Annihilation released a 40-minute gameplay demo video, but players' attention quickly focused on an unexpected issue—the protagonist Gwendolyn's appearance seemed to have changed. Many players believed that compared to the previous trailers, the protagonist's model had "become uglier," sparking rapid discussion within the community.

Developer Eclipse Glow Games addressed the controversy in a subsequent Q&A session. Producer Fu Kun explicitly stated that Gwendolyn's model had not been modified—both the previous trailers and the new demo used real-time rendering, with the main differences lying in lighting settings and facial display methods.

However, Fu Kun also admitted that the current demo version might be "slightly stiff," and the team plans to further optimize the character's facial appearance under different lighting conditions before the official release.Additionally, Fu Kun revealed that the game's character design blends Eastern and Western elements, with some characters directly tied to Chinese culture.

Meanwhile, rumors suggest that Gwendolyn's voice actor in Tides of Annihilation might be Angela Santalbano (the voice of Grace Ashcroft in Resident Evil: Requiem), but this news has not been officially confirmed.

Tides of Annihilation has not yet announced a release date.
