Faced with sharp criticism from players, the official Call of Duty account chose an unexpected strategy—no arguments, just free codes.
The incident began when player TristanSpooff saw CharlieIntel's multiplayer trailer for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 on social media. In his repost, he bluntly wrote, "This looks terrible, to be honest. I'm not buying it until I see actual gameplay."
Instead of rebutting or ignoring such negative feedback, the official @CallofDutyCM account responded with unexpected kindness: "Perfect! You'll be able to see live gameplay this weekend! I'll DM you a Beta code if you'd like to give it a try. Have fun!"
This move clearly caught TristanSpooff by surprise. He responded with a GIF of Leonardo DiCaprio raising a glass in a toast, seemingly appreciative of the official account's gesture.
However, this "complaint-for-perks" approach has raised an interesting concern: might some players intentionally post negative comments online just to get free Beta codes? As it turns out, being polite works just as well—another user named Sly The Sledgehammer praised the official account as "awesome" and directly asked for a Beta code, and also received access.
The Early Access Beta for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 will run from August 21 to 25 on PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PS5. Pre-ordering is the most reliable way to secure access. The Open Beta will follow from August 28 to September 1, during which the Nintendo Switch 2 platform will join for the first time (limited to the Open Beta phase only).
Notably, this Beta test marks the first time in the series' history that single-player campaign missions have been made available for players to try. Rewards earned during the test period, including character skins and weapon blueprints, will carry over to the full release.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 will officially launch on October 23. Activision has clearly stated that this title will not be included in Xbox Game Pass, marking a different strategy from Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Black Ops 7.
