Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III Launch Multiplayer Playlists Lack Dedicated Open Match Option

The multiplayer mode for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 launched early in New Zealand. Upon checking the initial playlists, players discovered that the current menu lacks a standalone "Open Matchmaking" option, with all playlists labeled as using the "Standard" system already implemented during the testing phase.

CharlieIntel revealed this finding on social media. Players had already expressed concerns during the testing phase about the absence of open matchmaking, and the initial configuration shown in the first regions to gain access still does not provide a corresponding entry point.

In contrast, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 previously offered an open matchmaking option, allowing players to enter environments that did not use skill-based matchmaking. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 currently lacks this option, meaning players who prioritize specific matchmaking methods cannot switch to such an environment via the launch menu.

Infinity Ward has been ambiguous regarding the game's skill-based matchmaking system. The only confirmed detail so far is the initial playlist configuration displayed when the game launched early in New Zealand. The development team has not yet provided further explanation for this setup, and there is no clear information on whether matchmaking options will be added or adjusted in the future.
