Player-developer CryZENx is remaking The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap using Unreal Engine 5 and has already released project demos on YouTube. This unofficial project transforms the original's traditional top-down view into a fully 3D perspective and is still in development.
The original game launched on Game Boy Advance in 2004, with its core mechanic revolving around Link shrinking his body with the help of Ezlo, a talking hat, turning ordinary environments into vast spaces ripe for re-exploration. The new demo presents Link, Ezlo, and scenes from the original in a vibrant, cartoonish style, while incorporating modern lighting, depth effects, and new camera angles.
CryZENx didn't stop at recreating locations; it also attempted to adjust gameplay mechanics, interactions, and the combat system. Subsequent videos released over several months showcased the project's gradual evolution.
Nintendo is not involved in this project. There is no confirmed release date for a complete version, and the creator has not promised to remake the entire original adventure. Nintendo has not announced an official remake of The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap; for now, the original version is available via Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack.
