"Raiden Project," a PS1 vertical-scrolling shooter compilation released in the US in 1995, is now available as a digital edition for PS5 and Nintendo Switch 2, priced at $11.99 on both platforms. This port is handled by Japanese publisher Hamster and is part of its "Console Archives" series.
"Raiden Project" includes "Raiden," released in 1990, and "Raiden 2," released three years later, marking the first time the "Raiden" series entered the home console market. Players pilot high-altitude combat bombers to fight against alien forces that have suddenly invaded Earth.
The new version retains the two titles from the compilation while adding instant save, customizable controls, and various screen filters, allowing players to adjust controls and display effects on modern devices.
Hamster has been continuously bringing PS1 games to modern platforms over the past year, with "Raiden Project" being the latest addition to the catalog, which is expected to expand further. The "Raiden" series continued for many years, culminating in the release of "Raiden V" in 2016; this release also provides players with a new official channel to purchase and experience the early console entries in the series.
