A Pokemon Trading Card Game Umbreon "Legend Promo Daisuki Club" promotional card sold for over $1 million through Alt Auction, setting a new public sales record for Umbreon cards. The card received a PSA 10 grade, with only 43 copies of the same card reaching this level according to PSA records.
The previous record was held by the 2001 "Neo Discovery" first edition holographic Umbreon card. Graded BGS 10 Pristine, it sold for $287,857 in another Alt auction. The promotional card that set the new record had previously been sold for just over $10,000.
This promotional card was initially distributed to members of the Japanese Pokemon Daisuki Club. To qualify, members had to participate in club activities for several consecutive years and accumulate at least 7,200 Action Points. This high barrier to acquisition has become a significant factor in its collectible value.
For comparison, the initial sale price of the Umbreon ex Special Illustration Rare card from the recent "Prismatic Evolutions" series was around $4,000, showing a clear gap with this club promotional card. However, exceeding $1 million is not the highest transaction record in the entire Pokemon TCG system; the Torchic Gold Star card from the "EX Team Rocket Returns" series once sold for approximately $2.7 million.
