Japan's long-standing free file hosting service, uploader.jp, has announced that it will cease operations at 23:59 on November 25, 2026. At that time, all data on the site, including files uploaded by users, will be deleted.

uploader.jp has been operating since 2006, allowing users to create dedicated file spaces for free. During the period when platforms like Steam Workshop and Nexus Mods had not yet become popular in Japan, this site served as an important channel for the local PC gaming community to share patches and assets.

Affected content on the site includes fan-made Japanese localization patches and mods for overseas games such as The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Fallout 3, and Fallout: New Vegas. Notably, a single file space for the "Fallout 3 DLC Japanese Localization Project" has accumulated over one million downloads.

The site also hosts personal mods and translation files for games like Minecraft and RimWorld, as well as works and assets related to Elona, CardWirth, and the WOLF RPG Editor. Since some older files have explicit restrictions on redistribution and their authors may no longer be reachable, these contents cannot be easily migrated. The service provider recommends that users who still need these files complete backups or transfers before the website shuts down.
