Free Next-Gen Updates for Metro 2033 Redux and More Now Available

Metro 2033 Redux and Metro: Last Light Redux have now received free next-gen updates. Existing players can access the new content and improvements without any additional purchase.

《地铁2033:回归》等两作免费次世代更新现已上线

Currently, this update has only been rolled out to the Windows version; macOS and Linux versions have not yet been synchronized. Linux users who wish to run the updated version will need to use the Proton compatibility layer.

Valve previously used Proton by default when verifying compatibility for Steam Deck and Steam Machine. However, given the significant scale of this update, existing compatibility ratings may need to be re-evaluated. The previous verification for Metro: Last Light Redux used the older Proton 7, so players may need to manually switch to a different Proton version.

The complete list of changes for both games includes bug fixes based on community feedback, but it does not enumerate all new additions and improvements. The Microsoft Store version upgrade also comes with only general descriptions.

Until the full list of changes is published and a new round of device verification is completed, it remains unclear whether the compatibility status on Steam Deck and other Linux devices, the choice of Proton version, and previous verification results still apply.
