Recent reports indicate that Arkane Studios must find a new buyer by November 13, or Microsoft will shut down the studio. The deal has not yet been finalized, and the future of Marvel's Blade remains uncertain.
The Printemps Ecologique union, representing Arkane employees, stated that the studio is exploring various takeover options and hopes for more time to negotiate potential deals. If no buyer is found, over 200 jobs are reportedly at risk.
Arkane unveiled Marvel's Blade at The Game Awards 2023. Union members claim that the project was actually nearing completion, and if it ultimately fails to launch, it would be a "huge waste." Other sources suggest the game might have been slated for a 2027 release, but an official launch date was never announced.
Microsoft stated that the company is actively seeking partners to support the next phase of development and facilitate commercialization. Neither Arkane nor Xbox has officially clarified the final fate of the studio and its games, so closure, acquisition, or cancellation are not yet set in stone. Attention now turns to whether a deal can be reached before November 13.
