Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III launches on October 23, with the first Call of Duty Endowment charity DLC, the "Valor Bundle," available on the same day. Priced at $20, all proceeds will be donated to Activision's related charity initiatives to help military personnel find new jobs after retirement.
The "Valor Bundle" centers on real-life Medal of Honor recipient Kyle Carpenter, adding him as a playable operator. The bundle also includes the "Valor" Operator, the "Indomitable" Operator Skin, and weapon blueprints for the M4 assault rifle, Rezi 12 shotgun, and combat knife.
Additional content includes weapon charms, stickers, calling cards, emblems, and loading screens, along with a one-hour Double XP token and a one-hour Double Weapon XP token.
On November 21, 2010, in Marjah, Afghanistan, Carpenter threw himself on a grenade to protect his fellow Marine, Nick Eufrazio. The explosion caused severe injuries. He was in a coma for five weeks, lost an eye, underwent brain surgery and approximately 40 other procedures, and suffered injuries including a collapsed lung, broken fingers, and multiple fractures in one arm.
In 2014, Carpenter received the Medal of Honor from then-U.S. President Barack Obama. This "Valor Bundle" continues the series' tradition of launching charity DLC on day one, focusing on Carpenter's real-life story and supporting veteran employment assistance.
