The Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) has now released the full rating description for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time on Switch 2. The game is rated E10+ (Everyone 10+), suitable for players aged 10 and older, with content descriptors including Animated Blood and Fantasy Violence. This rating previously appeared on Nintendo's official store page in July, and this update provides the specific rationale.
The rating description indicates that players take on the role of a hero embarking on an adventure to defeat evil forces and save the fantasy kingdom of Hyrule. The game features a third-person perspective, with core gameplay focusing on exploration, character interaction, puzzle-solving, and combat.
Link can use his sword, shield, bow, and magic to attack enemies such as bats, spiders, cuccos, and guards. Battles feature clashing sounds, colorful visual effects, and cries of pain, with some defeated enemies displaying green or purple blood effects. Certain areas contain large bosses, resulting in longer combat encounters.
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D on the 3DS also received an E10+ rating, though its content descriptors at the time included Suggestive Themes. The currently released rating description does not provide a release date, price, or new features for the Switch 2 version.
