Recently, well-known gaming leaker Tom Henderson shared his thoughts on the new wave of GTA 6 leak videos, pointing out that major Western gaming outlets have remained almost collectively silent—not only did they not publish the leaked videos, but they barely even mentioned their existence.
Henderson analyzed that this silence was no accident. Gaming media are reluctant to publicly discuss leaked content for fear of angering Rockstar Games. They worry that their priority review access for GTA 6 could be revoked—once they offend Rockstar, they may never again receive early access privileges before future game launches.
Previously, Take-Two and Rockstar quickly took action, using copyright law (DMCA) to carry out a massive takedown of the leaked videos. Henderson's comments reveal the dilemma faced by game media in this environment—they must balance maintaining their readers' right to know with preserving their commercial relationship with Rockstar. With the official Netflix showcase for GTA 6 scheduled to premiere on August 27, the media silence following this leak is essentially a conflict between commercial interests and journalistic transparency.
What do you think? Do you believe Rockstar would do this? Feel free to join the discussion in the comments section.
