According to Nintenderos, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt remaster for Switch 2 will launch on September 29, 2026. Players who already own the original Switch version can upgrade for free.
This remaster will be sold separately to players who haven't purchased the original Switch version, priced at €59.99. For existing owners, the free upgrade was previously confirmed only for the digital version, leaving it uncertain whether physical copy holders would receive the same benefit.
CD Projekt RED's CEO has now confirmed that players who own the physical Switch version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt can also upgrade for free to the Switch 2 remaster, meaning the upgrade eligibility is not limited to digital version users.
This confirmation means that both digital and physical Switch version players are included in the free upgrade program. Users without the original Switch version will need to purchase the Switch 2 remaster for €59.99, with the two groups obtaining the new version through different methods.
In addition to the upgrade details, a screenshot疑似 from the Switch 2 remaster briefly appeared on the Japanese Nintendo eShop. The image was later removed from the store page and is currently regarded as the first potential gameplay footage revealed for this version.
Although the fourth installment in the series has already been announced, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt continues to roll out new versions. The latest announcement further clarifies the release date and standalone price for the Switch 2 remaster, as well as eligibility for free upgrades for owners of the original Switch physical cartridge.
