Legendary Japanese game designer Hideo Kojima celebrates his 63rd birthday today. On this occasion, he shared a personal message with fans on social media, reflecting on the past and outlining his future plans. In his post, Kojima admitted that as he ages, the list of things he "must do" and "wants to do" continues to grow, while the time available to accomplish them dwindles. However, he emphasized that he has no intention of slowing down: "Once I start something, I can't just leave it unfinished."
This year holds special significance for Kojima, as he celebrates two milestones: his 40th anniversary in the gaming industry and the 10th anniversary of his studio, Kojima Productions. To mark the occasion, the "Kojima Productions 10th Anniversary Exhibition" will be held at the Azabudai Hills Gallery in Tokyo from late October to December. At the gallery entrance, an updated version of the studio's mascot, "10th Anniversary Ludens," has been displayed, with its X-shaped antenna symbolizing the 10th anniversary.
Despite receiving numerous offers and opportunities, the game designer confirmed that his primary focus remains unchanged: creating games. Currently, Kojima Productions is actively advancing several projects: the horror game OD in collaboration with Xbox Game Studios, the action game PHYSINT, and a film adaptation of Death Stranding produced in partnership with A24. In his closing message, Kojima expressed his gratitude to fans for their support over the years.
