Scopeley Explore announced today (August 26) that the smartphone location-based game Pokémon GO will host the new season "Twilight Trails" from 10:00 on September 8, 2026, to 10:00 on December 1. As the game's 24th season, this update will mark the first appearance of Pokémon from the Paldea region in Pokémon Scarlet/Violet, such as "Maschiff" and "Mabosstiff," while several new Mega Evolved and Dynamax Pokémon will also be implemented simultaneously.
The most anticipated highlight of the new season is the addition of Pokémon from the Paldea region. The Dark-type Pokémon "Nickit" and its evolution "Thievul" from Pokémon Scarlet/Violet will make their debut in Pokémon GO. According to official announcements, more Pokémon from the Paldea region are expected to be added in subsequent seasons.
Regarding Mega Evolution, "Mega Staraptor" and "Mega Chandelure" from Pokémon Legends: Z-A have been confirmed for implementation, further expanding the game's Mega Evolution lineup. The Dynamax gameplay is also receiving updates, with "Dynamax Rhyhorn," "Dynamax Sneasel," and "Dynamax Centiskorch" appearing in Dynamax Battles. Additionally, Dynamax "Uxie," "Mesprit," and "Azelf" will make an appearance during the "Dynamax Battle Day" event.
During the new season, the official dates for three Community Day events have been announced: September 12 will be "Classic Community Day," while October 10 and November 21 will host regular Community Day events. Based on clues from the trailer, the featured Pokémon for the October Community Day is likely to be "Zorua."
The season pass "GO Pass" will launch simultaneously, available in both a free version and a paid Deluxe version. Players can level up by completing tasks to earn "GO Points" and claim rewards. For quarterly milestones, reaching specific levels unlocks several passive bonuses, including guaranteed "Candy XL" when trading Pokémon, increased limits for gifts, doubled duration for Incense effects while walking, and increased XP and Stardust when hatching Eggs. Additionally, reaching level 100 of the GO Pass each month grants that month's Legendary Pokémon. The Legendary Pokémon appearing during the season will be Kyogre, Groudon, and Latias in sequence.
Before the new season officially begins, Pokémon GO will hold the "Pokémon GO Fest 2026: Mega Finale" event on September 5–6, serving as the conclusion to this year's GO Fest series. This event will focus heavily on Mega Evolution gameplay—Mega Mewtwo X and Mega Mewtwo Y will appear on separate days, and the Mega Evolved forms of the Kalos starters, "Mega Chesnaught," "Mega Delphox," and "Mega Greninja," will be officially implemented and available through branching Timed Research for players to choose from. During the event, restrictions on Remote Raid Passes will be fully lifted, and there will also be a "Mega Surge" warm-up period (August 31 to September 4) to allow players to prepare in advance.
