On September 5, 2026, the inaugural League of Legends Haidou Tournament kicked off in Shanghai's Qiantan area, with the offline finals about to begin. After nearly two months of national qualifiers across five tracks—public, university, platform, internet cafe, and partner—12 teams emerged from over a million participants to compete for the title of the first Haidou King and a total prize pool of 1.5 million yuan.
After a tough Swiss-stage competition, team XBDJ from the public track successfully advanced to the top four. Following the match, we joined other media outlets in interviewing them.

Q: What do you think is the biggest difference between the Haidou Tournament and Summoner's Rift matches?Is victory determined more by skill or by luck?
A: In comparison, macro management and pacing are the most crucial aspects for a team in the Haidou Tournament.
Q: Now that you've made it to the top four, do you have anything to say to your teammates?
A: I feel our team still needs more practice; there's plenty of room for improvement. We hope everyone will continue to work hard together.
Q: As a team advancing from the public track, how did you quickly build team synergy to compete against teams from other tracks who might have better coordination?
A: Everyone puts in significant effort during daily scrims, so we've improved very quickly.
Q: Decision-making has a huge impact on temporary compositions. Do you have any solutions when facing unfamiliar lineups, or is it purely improvisation?
A: When facing completely unfamiliar compositions, we tend to pick champions that everyone is comfortable with to handle the situation.
Q: What were your goals when you first signed up? Did you ever imagine making it to the top four?
A: When we signed up, we were very confident, believing we could at least make it to the top four, and indeed, that's exactly what happened.
Q: Regarding tomorrow's finals, which opponent would you most like to face?
A: We were quite eager to face off against CYLD.
Q: As a team that advanced through the public track, what do you consider your advantage over teams from other tracks?
A: Although opponents from other tracks may have had longer time to synergize, the Haidou Tournament relies more on macro management, pacing, and luck. I feel our team excels in these areas, especially luck.
Q: Do you have any expectations for the upcoming matches? Is there anything you'd like to say to your teammates?
A: For the upcoming matches, we hope to at least secure a spot in the top three. To my teammates, I just want to say let's all focus on playing our best games.
Q: Which game did you feel was your luckiest during this tournament?
A: In the recent match, my Fizz's first Hextech augment was Rabadon's Deathcap via Golden Augment, and the second was Zhonya's Hourglass upgrade. The composition also suited my playstyle perfectly, leading to a smooth victory.
Q: What was your initial motivation for signing up for the Haidou Tournament?
A: I believe our team is very strong, so we wanted to participate in the tournament to prove ourselves.
