On September 6, 2026, the grand finals of the first League of Legends Hextech Battle Tournament officially kicked off at Qiantan in Shanghai. After nearly two months of national qualifiers, 12 teams emerged from five categories: public, university, platform, internet cafe, and partner tracks.
On September 5th, these 12 teams competed in a one-day Swiss round to determine the final four: CYLD, KSS, XBDJ, and DYGL. These four teams will compete in two semifinals and one grand final to decide the first Hextech Battle King, vying for a total prize pool of 1.5 million yuan.
In the final match, CYLD defeated XBDJ 3-0 after Viktor's shocking base steal, claiming the overall championship. After the match, we joined other media outlets in interviewing the champion team, CYLD.
Here are the details of the interview:
Q: Congratulations on winning the match today. Who do you think was the key contributor to today's victory??
A: All five of us are the biggest contributors because this is a team game. We were all communicating and coordinating together, so all five of us deserve the credit.
Q: Is there any Hextech Augment you personally like but feel is underpowered?
A: I'd say "Heartsteel" because it's often kited, making it hard to trigger. But if you can consistently activate it, it's very powerful.
Q: Which match or team impressed you the most today?
A: No, we are the champions.
Q: Why did Viktor decide to sneak into the enemy base during the final team fight? Were you 100% sure you could take down the base?
A: Midway through that team fight, I felt we could go for the base steal because the opponent had only their Nexus left, and my teammates could distract the enemies. So I thought we could end it in one push.
Q: What do you think was the deciding factor in winning the last match?
A: The most crucial factor was that all five of us made it here together. We five are the best.
Q: Throughout the entire tournament, which teammate do you consider the MVP?
A: From my perspective, I would say I'm the MVP. However, everyone played great today, so I think each of us was actually the MVP.
Q: Were you determined to win the championship before the tournament started? How do you plan to spend the 500,000 yuan prize money?
A: We were determined to win the championship before the tournament started. As for the prize money, I'll probably save it and treat my teammates to a meal.
Q: How do you feel now after winning the championship? Do you have anything to say to your teammates?
A: My emotions have calmed down a bit now, but at the moment we won, I was extremely excited and my heart was racing. I want to thank my teammates for helping me win. Although I also played my part, I think all five of us were awesome.
Q: How do you plan to celebrate after winning the championship? Who do you want to thank the most?
A: We're going to celebrate tonight by having a good meal and getting some rest. The people I want to thank most are, of course, my four teammates, because winning the championship was a team effort.
Q: Besides the championship, what else did you gain from this offline tournament?
A: I've become famous among my friends. Right after winning the match, I received hundreds of messages on WeChat. Everyone knows who I am and that I won the championship. They all came to congratulate me, and I couldn't even reply to them all. This is an experience I've never had before.
Q: Do you have anything to say to yourself for all the hard training?
A: Hard work pays off, and the result is the championship.
