On September 6, 2026, the grand finals of the first League of Legends Hextech Brawl Tournament officially kicked off at Qiantan in Shanghai. After nearly two months of national qualifiers, 12 teams emerged victorious from five major tracks: public, university, platform, internet cafe, and partner.
On September 5th, these 12 teams determined the final four through a day of Swiss-style matches: CYLD, KSS, XBDJ, and DYGL. These four teams will compete in two semifinals and one grand final to decide the first Hextech Brawl King, vying for a total prize pool of 1.5 million yuan.
In the grand finals, CYLD defeated XBDJ 3-0 after Viktor's shocking base steal, claiming the championship, while XBDJ took second place. After the match, we joined other media friends in interviewing the runner-up team, XBDJ.
Here are the details of the interview:
Q: It's a pity you didn't win the championship today.Do you have any thoughts on participating in the next Hextech Brawl Tournament?
A: Yes, we will participate in the next tournament and hope to strive for the championship next time.
Q: Were there any moments in the finals that stood out to you the most?
A: We felt unlucky in the first two games of the finals, leading to poor compositions. Therefore, the third game was the most memorable because it was the one we had the best chance of winning. However, we were still too impatient a few times, wasting all our skills while chasing enemies. It's a pity.
Q: What part of today's match do you feel was the most regrettable?
A: The biggest regret was the last team fight in the third game, where Viktor stole our base. It was very unfortunate.
Q: It's unfortunate that you missed out on the championship today. What do you think was the biggest gap between your team and the opponents in the finals? Are you satisfied with this result?
A: As the captain, I am very satisfied with achieving second place. The biggest gap between us and our opponents was skill; we were outplayed. We can only continue to work hard and improve in the future.
Q: During the entire tournament, was there any match where the champion and Hextech Augments you picked felt particularly "satisfying"?
A: The most satisfying one was the Draven game, where we got "Fragile" plus "Critical Strike Missiles," along with a "Little Extra Help."
Q: What do you think was the deciding factor in losing the match at the end?
A: I feel our attention to detail wasn't as good as our opponents'; we were simply outplayed. So, we are quite satisfied with taking second place.
Q: The opponent stole your base in the final team fight. If you had fought normally, do you think the outcome would have been different?
A: Actually, in the last team fight, if we had played it well, we could have ended the game right then. Unfortunately, we were too impatient, allowing Viktor to exploit the opening. Since we lost the first two games, it's normal for our mentality to become急躁 (impatient/anxious) in the third. It's just a pity.
Q: Did the matches in this finals bring you any gains in terms of mentality and on-the-spot adaptability?
A: There wasn't much change in our mentality. We just hope to handle details better in the future and become stronger and stronger.
Q: Do you think there are any flaws in the current Hextech Brawl mode?
A: I think the flaw is that the tournament organization wasn't rigorous enough. I hope the next Hextech Brawl Tournament will see some improvements.
Q: Was there any moment where you lost because you didn't pick the right Hextech Augments?
A: I don't think we lost due to poor Hextech Augment choices. We were just unlucky in the first two games, which we have to accept. In the final game, our mentality was the issue.
