Warframe's annual major update is coming soon.
The "Old Peace" update, launching on December 10th, will restructure the existing Operator/Drifter system. Players can not only consume the tons of Focus points they've stockpiled over the years but also obtain new School Ultimates and exclusive artifacts. These artifacts come with a new set of Mods and Arcane Enhancements, each with unique attack methods and effects, truly delivering on both style and substance.
After being bullied by high-level enemies for so many years, our Operators can finally stand on their own. Not to mention, we're all waiting for a School Artifact to interrupt that 9999 combo.
Along with "Old Peace" comes the new Demon Frame, Uriel. Its skills and descriptions revolve around keywords like "Hell" and "Dark Flames," and it features a continuous energy-draining spiral flight skill for mobility. For players who want to show off their skills, it's definitely the top choice.
During this season, I was fortunate enough to be invited by DE to participate in a virtual media press conference. On one hand, it was to see "Lotus Mom" Rebecca and Megan discuss the new content coming with "Old Peace." On the other hand, it was to watch DE developers respond to questions players might have.
Q: If the new story skip feature receives positive feedback after launch, will you add it to older main storylines or side quests?
Rebecca:If the community response to this feature is positive, we will consider adding it to the Warframe: 1999 main questline, and potentially to future main storylines as well. However, this is more of a transitional solution, and we haven't made a final decision yet. Mainly because there isn't much to reference right now, so we're just exploring possibilities.
Q: Have you considered creating a mentorship mission to encourage veteran players to actively help and guide new players?
Rebecca:We actually had a fairly successful internal testing project with about 14 participants, where we experimented with something similar to what you mentioned. I say it was successful because I personally tested it and observed its performance. Although it may not be rolled out on a large scale in the short term, we do have plans to implement incentives to encourage veterans to help newcomers.
We created a dedicated Q&A channel in the game precisely for this reason. It's the first step in our system to "encourage veteran players to actively help newcomers."
Q: How many Bayonet weapons will be released when the new version launches?
Rebecca:There is only one Bayonet weapon, which is the signature weapon of the Demon Frame Uriel. Also, note that Bayonet weapons require a special Stance Mod, so don't forget to farm for it.
Q: After the Operator Focus School system update, will new Focus nodes primarily require resources unlocked from new maps and main quests, or will the original Focus points still be useful?
Rebecca:New Focus nodes will require both Focus points and resources unlocked through new missions. I believe you've already stockpiled plenty of Focus points, so don't worry about them going to waste. However, if you're concerned about not having enough, we'll also run weekend double Focus events to help players acquire the Focus points they need.
Q: Is the new Tauron Strike—the School's Ultimate Attack—only usable by the Drifter?
Rebecca:Both Operators and Drifters can use it. Of course, this skill has an internal cooldown—so please use it wisely.
Q: Was the Operator's School Ultimate Attack inspired by "JoJo poses"?
Rebecca:Anything is possible.
Q: Aside from battlefield missions, does the main quest of "Old Peace" have any hidden side quests or Easter egg missions?
Rebecca:Ah, "Old Peace" is almost entirely combat-focused. Although there are some "little tricks" in the progression—like ally rescues and side objectives such as defusing mines... but honestly, it's all about war. While you may discover some hidden fun elements during exploration, these won't affect the twelve minutes of combat you must complete.
War is hell.
Q: Does the entire "Old Peace" campaign involve both ground and Archwing aerial combat, or is it limited to specific missions?
Rebecca:It's only available in specific missions, sorry.
Q: Do players need to unlock the Operator to play the new tower-climbing missions?
Rebecca:Actually, it's not required. Although "Old Peace" involves a lot of the Operator's past, this questline is more like a dream. The player's Operator dreams of the past—so even if you haven't unlocked the Operator yet, you can still play it.
Q: You previously collaborated closely with the band "Periphery" during the main storyline of Warframe: 1999. Will there be a collaboration for "Old Peace" as well?
Rebecca:We have plans to continue collaborating in the future. However, "Old Peace" is not currently under consideration.
