Nintendo has officially announced The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Edition Nintendo Switch 2 console, with pre-orders now open in Australia. The console is priced at AUD 799 locally and is scheduled for release on October 29.
Currently, Australian retailers JB Hi-Fi and EB Games have both opened pre-orders. JB Hi-Fi is selling it for AUD 799, with a limit of one console per household; EB Games is currently offering pre-orders exclusively to EB World PLUS members, who can also receive trade-in bonuses.
This commemorative edition console is approximately AUD 30 more expensive than the standard Nintendo Switch 2. It features dark green Joy-Con controllers and comes with a dock adorned with shiny decorations, neither of which are currently sold separately.
Amazon Australia and the official Nintendo Store have not yet opened pre-orders for this console. During the launch period of the Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo's official purchasing channels imposed conditions such as playtime requirements, membership duration, and invitation eligibility, but it has not been confirmed whether the same arrangements will apply to this commemorative edition console.
The remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time will not be bundled with this special edition console. Nintendo also announced the Hasbro Electronic Master Sword and the LEGO Link and Epona set during this Direct presentation.
