Major Update for Zelda Notes App Adds Tie-in Features for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake

During last night's The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct, Nintendo announced that its mobile app "Zelda Notes" will receive a major feature expansion for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake. The app was previously launched as a companion tool for the Switch 2 versions of Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, and this update will bring several exclusive new features.

The updated Zelda Notes will add an Ocarina feature that can be played directly on mobile devices. Players can not only play melodies on their phones but also compose their own sheet music and share it with others via QR codes. This design echoes the classic setting of the Ocarina as a core item in the original game.

The app now includes a game statistics module that generates personalized daily reports based on players' recent Ocarina of Time gameplay, including metrics like enemy kills. Additionally, the built-in Zelda-themed trivia quiz features over 2,000 questions for series fans to challenge themselves with.

Even more noteworthy is that Zelda Notes will support a "Hint Image" feature—players can view clue images on their mobile devices to help track down specific hidden quests in the game. Nintendo emphasized that all features are optional and will not forcibly impact the core gameplay experience.

A major highlight of this Direct was the official reveal of the release date for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake. Notably, this date is close to the launch window for GTA VI, but Nintendo doesn't seem concerned—after all, GTA VI won't be available on the Switch 2, so there's a clear difference in their target audiences.

Furthermore, Nintendo released two exclusive amiibo figures for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake, featuring Young Link and Young Zelda. Scanning them unlocks unique in-game items.
