Recently, Matthew Ball, Xbox's Chief Strategy Officer, posted a photo on social media featuring a statue of the "Armored Hound," a mechanical Dog.exe from the Wolfenstein universe. Since a Vault Boy statue from Fallout 76 was also visible in the photo, it can be determined that the location was Bethesda's office area, not the MachineGames studio itself. Ball did not add any caption, only including a few "eyes" emojis.
A new entry in the Wolfenstein series has never been officially announced, but indirect signs have been accumulating over the years.
In February 2026, casting documents for a project codenamed "Valkyrie" were leaked. According to the documents, protagonist BJ Blazkowicz will return, alongside a new child character. The project is directed by Tom Keegan and cast by Emily Schweber—both of whom have worked on the studio's previous titles. The presence of casting and motion capture work typically indicates that the project has entered substantive production, rather than remaining in the conceptual stage.
Later, MachineGames studio head Jerk Gustafsson stated in an interview with the Noclip channel that returning to the series had always been part of the studio's long-term plans. However, he did not explicitly name Wolfenstein as the studio's next project.
Market logic also supports this. Amazon MGM is currently producing a Wolfenstein TV series, and Microsoft has recently shown a clear shift toward major IPs.
It is important to emphasize that the connection between Ball's photo and the "Valkyrie" project is based on community speculation, not an official company statement. Ball himself did not include any text, and MachineGames has not made any formal announcements since Indiana Jones. The most recent game in the series remains 2019's Wolfenstein: Youngblood.
