Perfect World has officially announced that it will host the Winter 2027 Counter-Strike 2 Major in Shanghai. The tournament is scheduled to take place from November 22 to December 12, 2027, confirming both Major locations for CS2 in 2027.
This Winter Major will be organized by Perfect World Esports, with top teams from around the world competing for the championship in Shanghai. Perfect World had previously confirmed that the event would be held in China through a city guessing campaign, before officially announcing Shanghai as the host city.
Shanghai previously hosted the Perfect World Shanghai Major 2024. This event marks the return of Counter-Strike 2's premier tournament to the city after three years, although the specific venue has not yet been announced.
The playoffs of the 2024 Shanghai Major were held at the Shanghai Oriental Sports Center, where Spirit faced FaZe in the final on Dust II and ultimately lifted the trophy. The Swiss stage of that event took place at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition & Convention Center, with both broadcast venues A and B open to spectators.
According to the currently announced Major schedule, the 2026 Singapore Major and the 2027 Buenos Aires and Shanghai Majors will be held consecutively outside of Europe. Starting from the 2026 Cologne Major, Europe will miss at least three consecutive tournaments.
Perfect World has not yet clarified whether the Shanghai 2027 Major will use the same venue configuration as the previous edition. Details regarding the competition venue and other aspects of the event are still pending further announcement.
