D3 Publisher and developer Sandlot have announced that Earth Defense Force 6.2 will be released in Japan on March 18, 2027, for PlayStation 5 at a price of 7,700 yen.
This title is the latest entry in the Earth Defense Force series and features significant updates based on Earth Defense Force 6. The developers stated that Earth Defense Force 6 has attracted over one million players worldwide.
Enemy scale is a key focus of this update. The number of enemies appearing during peak combat is approximately double that of Earth Defense Force 6, with increased numbers of ants, bees, spiders, and other creatures, further enhancing the sense of pressure from massive hordes.
The game's missions are based on the content of Earth Defense Force 6, with more than half of the original missions updated. Powerful enemies that previously appeared only in Earth Defense Force 6's additional content missions will not only double in number but also appear in the main story missions.
In addition to modified missions, the game includes brand-new missions. According to the official announcement, it will feature the largest number of missions in the series.
Earth Defense Force 6.2 will also introduce a weapon customization system to the series for the first time. Players can adjust their weapons according to their tactics, such as equipping assault rifles with special incendiary ammunition or loading rocket launchers with freezing rockets.
