Cygames officially released Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising Legendary Edition on September 17, with game version 2.60 launching on the same day. The new character Id was added with the update, bringing the total roster of playable characters to 40.
The Legendary Edition includes the base game, the characters and related content from Deluxe Edition Character Pass Parts 1 and 2, and the newly released Id Character Pack. Players who purchase it can use all 40 playable characters, including Id, without needing to buy additional character packs.
This version also includes character colors, weapon skins, character costumes, premium avatars, and stages. Purchase before 22:59 on January 12, 2027, to receive Sandalphon's costume "Noble Attire"; the game must be updated to the latest version before using this bonus. This costume will also be released as a separate DLC.
Version 2.60 adds Id, along with the combat system "Chain Assault," the control mode "Smart Control+," and the stage "Ainster Islands," while adjusting the battle balance for several characters. The Legendary Edition already includes this update's content, with some features becoming available after maintenance is completed.
Id is voiced by Kenjiro Tsuda. The character pack also includes the premium avatar "Id (Divine Union)," emblem, digital figure poses and expressions, and a "Mission Request." Players who did not purchase the Legendary Edition can buy this character pack separately, but they must own the base game; the free version is not eligible.
Players who own both Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising and Granblue Fantasy Relink: Fading Twilight, along with their respective save data, on the same device and platform account can claim cross-save bonuses in both games. These include Id's weapon skin, character colors, avatar, nameplate, and system voice lines, as well as Id's exclusive weapon "Apocalypse Sinblade" in Granblue Fantasy Relink: Fading Twilight. Save data from the free version of Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising does not qualify for these bonuses.
The Nintendo Switch 2 version features a "Motion VS" control mode, allowing players to perform combos and abilities by swinging Joy-Con 2 or Joy-Con controllers; this version also supports offline local multiplayer battles. The Steam and Nintendo Switch 2 versions do not include the Granblue Fantasy in-game items corresponding to the Deluxe Edition Character Pass Additional Character Pack.
