Take-Two has confirmed that GTA Online will not end with the release of GTA 6. The company plans to continue supporting the existing online mode after the new title launches.
During a recent shareholder meeting, Take-Two stated, "We will continue to support GTA Online after the release of GTA 6 and for a longer period thereafter." This means players will still be able to use the current online mode after the new game is released.
Rockstar Games previously confirmed that GTA 6 will launch with only single-player content and will not include a multiplayer mode at release. As for when the next-generation online mode will launch, whether it will be added as post-launch content or released separately, no details have been announced yet.
Twitch head Dan Clancy believes that GTA 6's multiplayer content may launch in 2027. He mentioned having discussions with Rockstar about their future plans and how creators can get involved. However, neither Take-Two nor Rockstar has officially confirmed this timeline.
The shareholder meeting also addressed the PC platform. Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnik stated that the company typically releases titles gradually on platforms with a substantial user base, and the importance of the PC platform to the company continues to rise. However, he did not confirm specific arrangements for the PC version of GTA 6.
Rockstar has typically launched console versions first, with PC versions following later. Former Rockstar producer Imran Sarwar previously stated that this approach stems from the team's desire to optimize around console performance before expanding the game to the PC platform. GTA 6 is currently scheduled for release on November 19, and the existing GTA Online will continue to receive support thereafter.
