Recently, Bahamut released a gameplay demo of "Wo Long 2: Phoenix Fire Across the Sky." The Alpha trial version will be available from September 16 to September 30. Interested players can download and experience it. The full game is scheduled for release on March 4, 2027, launching on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2.
Gameplay Demo:
"Wo Long 2" retains the series' core "Deflect" mechanic and introduces the Spirit Resonance system. By consuming Spirit, players can activate "Focused Movement," combining jumping, dodging, and deflecting for high-speed mobility to counter red-indicated fatal attacks. Hitting flying enemies while airborne can knock them down, dealing significant Spirit damage. The combat features numerous aerial combos, significantly raising the skill ceiling compared to the first game and moving closer to the high-speed action experience of the Ninja Gaiden series.
The Divine Beast Manifestation system was also demonstrated for the first time. Filling the gauge triggers a Divine Beast fusion transformation, enhancing Spirit Resonance movement and deflection effects, while also allowing the use of exclusive ultimate moves or applying buffs to allies. Primary and secondary Divine Beasts can be configured in advance at Dragon Flags, providing different enhancement effects.
Battlefield mechanics have been upgraded. Instead of a single large map, strongholds and random events will be dynamically unlocked during exploration. After defeating Huang Zhong, the General Dispatch system is unlocked. The more strongholds you occupy, the more slots available for deploying generals. Assign recruited generals to guard strongholds to receive camp passive bonuses based on the Five Elements attributes.
The progression system has undergone major changes: instead of relying solely on Five Elements attribute points to unlock moves and miracles, players now obtain Five Element Orbs and element-specific orbs through missions to unlock independent skill trees for weapons and miracles. Move inputs support customization. Five Elements attribute points now only limit the number of powerful miracles that can be equipped simultaneously, significantly increasing build freedom in the early game.
Two new special interactive NPCs have been added to the map: Iron Eaters, similar to the Oni in Nioh, allow you to exchange equipment for accessory rewards. Pineapples repeatedly unleash low-damage fatal attacks; deflect them using Spirit Resonance to knock them away and earn rewards.
Feedback from the trial indicates that the current Alpha version still has some visual flaws and bugs, with obvious reuse of monster assets. Additionally, a new item, the Bronze Bell, has been added. It allows players to recover all Morale and dropped items upon death by consuming currency, reducing the penalty for dying.
