Kalypso Media Japan has announced that Tropico 7 is scheduled for a global release on January 28, 2027, on PC (Steam, Epic, Microsoft Store), Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and Switch 2. The Switch 2 version will be released as Tropico 7 Special Edition, with the port handled by Engine Software.
This will be the first title in the Tropico series to have a simultaneous global release across all supported platforms. Developed by Gaming Minds Studios, the Nintendo Switch 2 port is handled by Engine Software. The PC version is available on Steam, Epic Games Store, and Xbox PC, and the game will be added to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass on its launch day.
The Nintendo Switch 2 version supports mouse controls via Joy-Con 2, allowing players to use this method for construction and island management. This version also supports GameChat voice chat and screen sharing, and allows players to customize the appearance of "El Presidente" and the palace.
Tropico 7 continues the series' nation-building gameplay. Players take on the role of president of a Caribbean island nation, developing the island and maintaining power across four eras: the Colonial Age, World Wars, Cold War, and Modern Times. The new title introduces an expanded constitution system, new edicts, and a "Political Matrix," along with a terrain modification system that lets players reshape the island's landscape. Additionally, the game features curved roads, more flexible building placement, and refined citizen simulation and political systems.
To coincide with the new announcement, Kalypso Media's TGS promotion is running on PlayStation Store and Nintendo eShop until 23:59 on September 23, 2026. Tropico 6 for PS4 and PS5 are discounted by 65% and 60% respectively, priced at 3,072 yen and 2,980 yen; Tropico 6 for Nintendo Switch is 75% off, priced at 1,644 yen.

Tropico 7 is set for a global release on January 28, 2027. The Nintendo Switch 2 Special Edition supports mouse controls via Joy-Con 2; the specific release date for the Japanese version will be announced separately by Kalypso Media Japan.
