The first-person Soulslike game Immortal Legacy has been confirmed to launch at a price of $40. Publisher Lyrical Games stated that the crowded fall 2026 lineup was a significant factor in the team's pricing decision.
Immortal Legacy is developed by the creators of Ghostrunner. Blake Rochkind, head of Lyrical Games, revealed that the team already knew the game would be delayed when they announced the original release date of September 24. The current evidence does not mention a specific adjusted release date.
Rochkind stated that the team carefully weighed the $40 price point, with their biggest concern being that a lower price might send the wrong message to players. However, he emphasized that this decision stemmed from the team's confidence in the game, not from any lack of certainty about the product.
Fall 2026 will see the concentrated release of many games, including GTA VI and the remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. As a new IP, Immortal Legacy will need to compete with these well-known titles for players' time and budget.
The publisher hopes that the $40 price tag will make Immortal Legacy an easy add-on purchase for players buying major titles. Rochkind stated that the team did not want to back down during a competitive release window, but rather aimed to lower the barrier for players to pick up this game alongside others.
Rochkind also mentioned that a developer told him their $30-priced title performed well, and they never regretted making the game an affordable addition alongside other purchases. Lyrical Games believes that the $40 price point will similarly help Immortal Legacy achieve this goal.
