How will first-person Soulslike gameplay be achieved?
In a recent behind-the-scenes interview with IGN, Radoslaw, Game Director at One More Level studio, revealed that the shift in perspective is not merely a simple "port" of traditional Soulslike gameplay to first-person. Instead, it required extensive redesign of core systems centered around field of view, pacing, and player feedback.
In terms of combat, the team has combined FromSoftware's Sekiro-style parrying, ranged weapons, and weak-point targeting mechanics with execution moves inspired by the DOOM series, aiming to create "deadly duels" that emphasize instant reactions and risk management;
During large boss battles, the game uses dynamic field-of-view zooming to help players better observe enemy movements; in exploration sections, it utilizes environmental sound effects, visual details, and trap trigger rhythms to compensate for the lack of a third-person wide-angle view inherent to the first-person perspective.
Furthermore, Immortal Legacy features a relatively minimalist UI design to minimize interface distraction, allowing players to focus on combat and stamina management.
