Koei Tecmo announced the new app "Sophie Chat: AI" at its TGS 2026 stage event. Centered on Sophie, the protagonist of "Atelier Sophie: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Book," the title is currently in development.
This is another AI chat application based on the "Atelier" series, following "Resna Chat: AI." Set in the world of "Atelier Resna: The Alchemist of Darkness and the Secret Hideout," "Resna Chat: AI" allows players to experience travel, synthesis, combat, and more through conversation.
All illustration assets for "Resna Chat: AI" were created manually and supervised by illustrator Toridamono, without using image or video generation tools. Resna's voice is generated using SpiralAI's speech synthesis technology, based on audio recordings specially made by her original voice actress, Yurino Noguchi. Since its overseas launch on September 9, Resna has delivered over 15 million lines of dialogue.
The development team also plans to add multiple skins to "Resna Chat: AI," featuring new illustrations of Resna from previous titles. SpiralAI is also considering a multiplayer mode supporting up to four players, as well as a "Travel Mode" that lets players journey with Resna across an in-app map of Japan; both features are currently under discussion.
