Skyler Gisondo, who impressed in 'Superman,' will soon return as Jimmy Olsen in a new true-crime documentary-style series set in the DC Universe.
This premise already sounds novel enough, but Skyler Gisondo, who plays Jimmy Olsen, further revealed that the series, co-created by Tony Yacenda and Dan Perrault, has even more unique aspects beyond this.
In an interview with entertainment media outlet Collider, Gisondo stated, "This series is particularly interesting; I've never seen anything like it—using a mockumentary narrative style within a superhero universe. Tony Yacenda and Dan Perrault are both experts in this field. I was a huge fan of 'American Vandal' before, so being able to collaborate with creators I admire makes me feel that this series will approach the superhero genre from a very unique angle. Many of the designs are unexpected, and we had a blast filming it."
He continued, "Similar to the creative style of Lance Oppenheim, director of 'Prime Time,' we're taking a true-crime mockumentary approach with plenty of documentary-style filming techniques, making the overall atmosphere very vivid. When shooting the courtroom scenes, we used only surveillance camera angles throughout, which felt like performing in a stage play, allowing everyone to complete the entire sequence in one go. The filming process was particularly interesting. We've only just started shooting, and I hope the final product will meet expectations."
The first season of the series will revolve around Gorilla Grodd, who has already gained countless fans since behind-the-scenes photos of his university campus look leaked.
'The People vs. Gorilla Grodd' currently has no confirmed release date. DC's upcoming new projects include 'Clayface,' while 'Lanterns' is currently releasing episodes on a weekly basis.
