The new tactical shooter "War Dogs" has been in Early Access for over a week, with players worldwide gradually jumping in to thoroughly test the game's content. This highly popular title has already amassed a community of hundreds of thousands of players, who have begun to identify the game's shortcomings—one balance issue stands out in particular: players assigned to a specific faction are almost guaranteed to lose.
"War Dogs" features standard matches with three teams of 33 players each, competing for control of the same area. The game blends battle royale and point-capture mechanics, with the three factions identified by red, green, and blue colors.
Player feedback from the community indicates that all three teams have experienced losing streaks. In response, Bulkhead Interactive's lead highlighted the worst-performing faction and acknowledged that the developers are working on a fix. Addressing claims that the Red Team had an excessively high win rate, Bulkhead CEO John Brammer responded on Twitter: "We do indeed have a balance issue."
He added, "In reality, the Green Team has the highest win rate. The win rates for the Green and Red Teams are roughly equal, which has been the case since the early testing phases. However, the Blue Team being consistently dominated is definitely a problem with multiple underlying causes."
Streamer Wynn Gaming noticed during an eight-hour live stream that the Red Team consistently came out on top. He offered several hypotheses analyzing why this shooter might favor the Red Team, but his personal experience didn't align with the developer's statistical data.
Ideally, no faction should have a predictable outcome. Such issues are common growing pains for newly launched games like "War Dogs," and they are likely to persist over the coming months. For now, it's best to avoid picking the Blue Team if other options are available.
