Whether GTA 6 will launch on Switch 2 remains uncertain. Jérémy Hartvick, a former Rockstar developer who worked on the game, believes that porting it to Switch 2 would be challenging, though he hasn't ruled out the possibility of running it via streaming.
Hartvick worked on GTA 6 until 2020. He believes that running the game natively on Switch 2 might require technical compromises. He also questions whether such a port would be worthwhile for Rockstar, reasoning that players eager to play the game are likely to purchase consoles already confirmed to support it.
However, Hartvick sees streaming as another possibility: the game could run on servers and be transmitted to various devices. He stated that with current technology, players might even be able to play Grand Theft Auto VI on their phones this way; as for whether Nintendo can make it work on Switch 2, he said he is unsure.
GTA 6 is scheduled for release on November 19, 2026. Neither Switch nor Switch 2 is among the currently confirmed platforms, and it remains undecided whether a Switch 2 version will be released.
