War Thunder's "Sky Odyssey" update is now live, adding new vehicles from Greece, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Australia, and adjusting bomber damage mechanics. The update also introduces a new Falkland Islands map and changes to kill reward rules when players exit their vehicles.
The Israeli tech tree now includes Greek air and ground vehicles, expanding the previously limited aviation branch. New aircraft range from the SB2C-5 "Helldiver" to the F-84, F-86, A-7, Mirage F1, and F-4E AUP, with the Mirage 2000-5EG and Rafale EG to follow.
Other new aircraft include Russia's MiG-35, China's J-16, the Greek F-102A "Delta Dagger" in the US tech tree, and the UK's Hawk T1A. The MiG-35 can carry eight active radar-guided missiles; the F-102A lacks a cannon and primarily uses AIM-4 infrared and radar-guided missiles.
Bomber damage systems have also been adjusted, with hit zones and cumulative damage判定 refined. Jet bombers are now harder to shoot down, requiring attackers to aim more precisely at fuel tanks, engines, or crew members. For air-to-air missiles, models like the AIM-7, AIM-120, and R-77 have had their flight models and maneuverability tweaked, while missiles such as the MICA-EM have seen increased launch ranges.
The new ground battle map is set against Mount Darwin in the Falkland Islands, featuring rolling grasslands, rural settlements, and an airfield. Existing maps have also been adjusted: "Red Desert" has had parts of its terrain modified to reduce spawn camping and long-range sniping; the Falkland Islands and Afghanistan air battle maps have received visual updates.
To address situations where players exit their vehicles just before destruction, denying opponents kill rewards, new rules will award 50% of the standard kill reward to the nearest enemy player or their projectile within 3 kilometers. The "Sky Odyssey" update is now available on PC, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S platforms.
