Demon Chef is a "spicy" tactical RPG blending Fire Emblem and Hades styles with a focus on cooking, and its release date has been moved up from the original schedule. All thanks to The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake.
Have you watched the anime Delicious in Dungeon? If not, it's highly recommended. If you have, you'll likely smile when you hear about the core gameplay of Demon Chef. Developer Daimon Studio defines this title as a "tactical combat game where you cook enemies directly into dishes," which is the soul of the game's core gameplay loop.
In the world of Demon Chef, players take on the role of the last surviving chef in a post-apocalyptic world, using the aroma and flavor of delicious dishes made from monsters to attract weary adventurers. Daimon Studio announced in a tweet on September 7 that the game would be released on November 5, with the caption: "See that annoying monster over there? That's your dinner! Plan your tactics in intricately designed maps with ever-changing ecosystems, and gather as many ingredients as possible." But just one day after the tweet, Nintendo suddenly announced the release date for the Ocarina of Time remake—also November 5. Wow, what a coincidence.
Daimon Studio then posted a new tweet updating the release date, joking: "Oops, just kidding, the game isn't releasing on November 5 anymore. It's definitely not because Zelda suddenly dropped into the same slot right after our announcement. Now you can get your hands on this 'spicy indie Fire Emblem' even sooner—Demon Chef will officially launch on November 3!"
Honestly, for those of us who were looking forward to both games, this is entirely a good thing. You can still play the Ocarina of Time remake, and now you can get this novel and fun food-themed tactical RPG two days early. And we can comfortably call Demon Chef the "spicy indie Fire Emblem," since the developers themselves use that term. Many people only discovered this game thanks to this little scheduling mix-up.
