We solemnly announce: Our university's retired teacher and nationally renowned musician Liu Huan passed away due to illness in Shanghai at 9:52 AM on September 25, 2026, at the age of 63.
Liu Huan was born in Tianjin in August 1963. He joined our university in July 1991, serving as a teacher and associate professor in the Art Teaching and Research Office, and retired in September 2023. Over more than thirty years of teaching, he devoted himself to music aesthetic education and received numerous teaching awards from the university. In 2011, he was appointed as a director of the third Board of Directors.
Professor Liu Huan's course "History of Western Music" was a classic aesthetic education course at our university. His classes were always packed, deeply loved by students, and influenced generations of UIBE alumni. He composed the music for our university anthem, "Song of UIBE," carrying the spirit of our school motto with its stirring and heartfelt melody. Sung at major university ceremonies, it has become a shared spiritual印记 for all UIBE members.
Professor Liu Huan combined music education, composition, and singing in one person. Well-versed in both Chinese and Western traditions, with noble professional ethics, he dedicated his life to music, making significant contributions to the development of higher education in music. His passing is a major loss to our university and to the Chinese music community.
In accordance with Professor Liu Huan's last wishes, the funeral arrangements will be simple. No funeral committee will be established, and no farewell ceremony or memorial service will be held.
Though he has passed, his educational legacy endures. We deeply mourn Professor Liu Huan!

With deep sorrow and regret, we announce: The founder and donor of the "Liu Huan Original Music Public Welfare Fund," a musician who excelled in music education, composition, and singing, our most respected Professor Liu Huan, passed away due to illness in Shanghai at 9:52 AM on September 25, 2026, surrounded by family, at the age of 63.
Liu Huan majored in French Literature at Beijing International Relations University, but "strayed from his main path" to stand out in the 1985 Capital University English and French Song Competitions, launching his irreversible journey in music. He created and performed many popular musical works, but his primary profession was actually that of a university teacher. He taught "History of Western Classical Music" at the University of International Business and Economics. Liu Huan believed in "teaching and learning benefit each other" and that "effort lies beyond the poem itself." He encouraged students to learn seemingly "useless" knowledge to cultivate character, refine sentiments, and enhance aesthetic appreciation. For thirty years, he remained steadfast at his podium, deeply loved by his students.
In 2014, Liu Huan initiated and planned the original music reality show "Sing My Song" and served as a mentor. In 2019, Liu Huan donated funds in his personal name to jointly establish the "Liu Huan Original Music Public Welfare Fund" with the Hunan Broadcasting System (Station) Mango V Fund, championing Chinese original music and supporting China's intelligent manufacturing.
Liu Huan's original musical works and the "Liu Huan Original Music Public Welfare Fund" are precious legacies he leaves to music lovers and Chinese original musicians. His passing is a significant loss to China's original pop music scene. We will honor his last wishes, continue his unfinished work, and sustain the annual "Liu Huan Original Music Public Welfare Fund."
