IllFonic has released update version 1.0.4 for Halloween: The Game, fixing anomalies when Civilians break free from grabs and addressing some crash and performance issues. This update was delivered via patch 1.013.
Earlier this week, IllFonic released update 1.0.3, which adjusted game balance and introduced several improvements. However, this update inadvertently introduced new issues with the grab mechanic, prompting the development team to release a fix shortly after.
IllFonic stated that update 1.0.3 was intended to give Civilians more opportunities to break free from grabs when Michael's Stealth level was 2 or lower. However, these changes combined with other grab-related fixes made it much harder than expected for Civilians to escape when Michael reached Bloodlust level 3. Civilians could also sometimes take fall damage after successfully breaking free on uneven terrain. Both issues have been fixed in update 1.0.4.
On consoles, the development team addressed several memory- and GPU-related crashes on Xbox Series X|S and adjusted graphical settings for both consoles. Specifically, the Performance Mode settings on Xbox Series X were tweaked to improve stability.
The Xbox Series S now uses a single graphics mode, removing the option to switch between Quality and Performance modes. The new settings cap the frame rate at 30 FPS, improve overall texture quality, and enable hair physics during gameplay.
The patch also addresses performance drops caused by Loomis entering as a reinforcement character, as well as crashes that could occur on lower-spec platforms. Additionally, some crashes that happened after completing story missions or while loading matches on various platforms have been resolved. IllFonic noted that future updates will continue to address crash and performance issues.
