New details have been released for the Marvel series Vision Quest, with a burning figure in the footage hinting at the original Human Torch, Jim Hammond. The series is set to launch on Disney+ in October, though it has not yet been confirmed whether this character will officially appear.
At the 29-second mark of the trailer, a man appears in a large library, engulfed in flames. This shot has sparked speculation about the appearance of Jim Hammond, but the footage does not reveal the man's identity or explain how he will be involved in the story.
In Marvel Comics, Jim Hammond was the original Human Torch, predating Johnny Storm of the Fantastic Four in using the title. He made his debut in Marvel Comics #1, published in 1939 by Timely Comics, the predecessor of Marvel Comics.
Vision Quest continues the storyline following 2021's WandaVision and 2024's Agatha All Along. Paul Bettany reprises his role as Vision; his connection to the Marvel Cinematic Universe began in 2008's Iron Man, where he voiced J.A.R.V.I.S., Tony Stark's AI assistant.
The trailer also featured Vision, played by Paul Bettany, and Ultron, voiced by James Spader. The series also sees the return of Edwin Jarvis, played by James D'Arcy, and Raza, played by Faran Tahir; Raza previously appeared as the leader of the Ten Rings in Iron Man.
Jim Hammond's identity and role in the plot remain to be revealed. Vision Quest is scheduled to premiere on Disney+ on October 14, 2026.
