Control: Resonance has just been released, and Remedy has already begun revealing its upcoming update plans.
According to the current plan, the game will add "New Game++" mode in October and launch Photo Mode in November. The original game already had "New Game+," while the new mode allows players to continue starting the next cycle after completing one. The development team described this design by saying, "You can play 665 cycles if you want," but the report hasn't provided answers on how the difficulty or values might change in subsequent cycles.
Continuous play doesn't mean all abilities will be unlocked directly. Players still need to unlock movement abilities as before. The report also mentions that the new mode helps players obtain other abilities of the same "Resonator" and put them into the same loadout; whether these abilities synergize depends on the player's choices. For players who plan to replay repeatedly and try different ability combinations, this is the most direct change in the October update.
Photo Mode is expected to launch in November. Remedy stated that this feature has been in preparation for some time, and the team consulted with virtual photography enthusiasts in the community to improve the final result. The development team explained that Photo Mode didn't launch with the game's initial release because they prioritized ensuring the state of the base game at that time. In addition to the two features mentioned above, future updates will also add outfit content for Dylan, but no specific timeline has been announced yet.
The report lists the game's current platforms as Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC, and mentions player and media reception at the time: the Steam page shows "Very Positive" based on 1,787 user reviews, with an 87% recommendation rate; Metacritic gives it a score of 83 based on 71 reviews. These scores reflect the situation at the time of the report. The specific release dates for the two scheduled features are yet to be announced.
Steam Chinese reviews are mostly positive, with an overall Very Positive rating

Official Press Release:
Control: Resonance Update Plan
Hello everyone!
Control: Resonance officially launched yesterday.
First, we want to thank every player who purchased the game, joined Altered Manhattan, and embarked on an adventure with Dylan Faden.
We hope you're having fun, and there's no need to rush through the progress. There's still much content in the game waiting for you to discover, so feel free to slow down and explore thoroughly.
Thank you all for consistently sharing your gameplay experiences. We've also been paying close attention to your comments and feedback. Next, let us share some of the upcoming content we're preparing.
About New Game++
After completing the main story of Control: Resonance, there's still plenty of content waiting to be explored. Whether it's unfinished side quests, undiscovered hidden content, or "World Feats," you can continue challenging yourself; you can also start a brand-new New Game+.
The current version of New Game+ supports completing the game once again. However, we are preparing a subsequent update to add the long-awaited New Game++!
At that time, you'll be able to start a new cycle after completing one NG+ run without clearing your existing progress. Want to challenge yourself with 665 cycles? No problem at all!
New Game++ is expected to launch in October.
Photo Mode Coming Soon
Photo Mode is also in preparation.
Everyone wants Photo Mode added, and we're equally eager to bring this feature to you as soon as possible.
Photo Mode for Control: Resonance has actually been in preparation for some time. To further refine this feature, we also invited talented virtual photographers from the community to participate, providing suggestions for the development and optimization of Photo Mode.
The reason Photo Mode wasn't launched alongside the game's initial release is that we needed to prioritize ensuring the game itself was in its best possible state.
We've already seen some amazing photos taken by players using existing features. Once Photo Mode officially launches, we believe everyone will be able to document their adventures in Altered Manhattan in even more ways.
Photo Mode is expected to launch in November.
