Even with strong momentum during Early Access, Bulkhead Studios likely didn't expect War Dogs to sell three million copies in just over two weeks. Yet, that's exactly what happened. As the studio put it, “This surge won't last forever, but that doesn't diminish the sense of achievement one bit.”
As a first-person military simulation shooter, War Dogs pits 100 players against each other across three Private Military Company (PMC) factions vying for territory. While certain realistic elements may appeal to fans of Arma, its combat style is closer to Battlefield. The game's true charm lies in its open-world setting. There are no fixed classes—players must perform specific role-based actions to unlock more advanced weapons, vehicles, and more.

Scouting and sniping enemies increases your Recon rank; piloting attack helicopters or transporting soldiers to the battlefield boosts your Airborne rank; and so on. Of course, every mission earns you cash rewards, which carry over between matches and serve as your primary means of acquiring advanced equipment.
And that’s not even mentioning War Dogs' base-building component, which involves another layer of complex mechanics. Things might change when Season 2 launches on October 15. Bulkhead Interactive hasn't revealed many details yet, but its short teaser suggests that rainy weather will be a significant factor.
