Gears of War: E-Day Premium Edition, developed by The Coalition, will be available to play on October 1, with media review embargoes lifting at 9 PM Beijing time on the same day.
The Gears of War series will celebrate its 20th anniversary in November. Following 2019's Gears 5, the development team is bringing the new installment back to the horror-inspired style of the series' early days. The story begins on Emergence Day, with players following Marcus Fenix and Bravo Squad through Kalona as they battle the Locust Horde. The campaign lasts approximately 14 hours, with the severity of the conflict gradually unfolding as the plot progresses.
In terms of gameplay, the new title introduces sliding, vaulting over gaps to flank enemies, weapon mods, and a new active reload mechanic, while removing the series' signature wall-bouncing.
Multiplayer will include Demolition and Crucible modes; the Horde mode adds a new Siege gameplay variant, allowing teams of up to 12 players to complete objectives on large maps.
The PC version has hardware requirements for graphics cards: only GPUs that support hardware ray tracing can run the game.
