Developer SlyBalto has released Hyperboard Extreme, a free-to-play PC combat racing game that supports up to four-player local split-screen. SlyBalto stated that the game was influenced by arcade-style racers such as Burnout 3.
In the game, players race on hoverboards at top speeds of 400 km/h. Knocking over opponents builds up boost energy, while power-ups can send rivals and regular vehicles flying off the track.
In addition to local split-screen, the game features multiple selectable racers, customizable interface colors, and cheat codes that let players experiment with different gameplay styles.
SlyBalto said they developed the game in their spare time over two years, accumulating nearly 4,000 wishlists before launch. Hyperboard Extreme is now available on Steam and itch.io; the developer describes it as a prototype for a larger-scale racing project.
