Players who already own the Nintendo Switch version of Cult of the Lamb can now upgrade to the Nintendo Switch 2 version for free. The new version features improved resolution and frame rates, along with several functions tailored for the new console, rather than being a simple port of the original.
Current information does not mention a deadline for the free upgrade, so this upgrade does not appear to be time-limited at present. However, the developers have not explicitly confirmed that this channel will remain open permanently.
Developed by Massive Monster and published by Devolver Digital, Cult of the Lamb was released in 2022, blending Roguelike and RPG elements. Players take on the role of a lamb saved by a mysterious entity, traveling to different regions to recruit followers and establish a cult.
The game's Metacritic media scores range from 79 to 88 depending on the platform. It has received honors such as Game of the Year at the Australian Games Awards and Best Independent Game at the Golden Joystick Awards, and was also nominated for Best Independent Game at The Game Awards and Best Game at the BAFTA Games Awards.
The main story experience is expected to take approximately 15 to 20 hours, while completing the game fully takes around 30 hours. Existing Switch players can experience the version optimized for Switch 2 hardware without needing to make an additional purchase.
