Christopher Nolan's "The Odyssey" has accumulated nearly $1.8 billion in global box office revenue, poised to break the worldwide box office record for R-rated films. As of October 25, the film's box office stood at approximately $1.79 billion, though the final figure has not yet been officially confirmed.
Current statistics show that "The Odyssey" has earned approximately $1.17 billion in overseas markets and around $625.4 million in the United States and Canada. The film is still screening in multiple territories, with projections suggesting its total box office could surpass $1.8 billion in the coming days.
Recent box office growth for the film has primarily come from markets outside North America. In its fifteenth weekend of release, it garnered approximately $3.2 million overseas, a slight week-on-week decrease of only 17.9%; during the same period, the number of theaters screening the film in North America had shrunk to around 330. The film's overseas opening reached $139.6 million, marking the best overseas debut of Nolan's career. Its cumulative overseas box office has surpassed $1 billion, exceeding the $1.085 billion achieved by "The Dark Knight Rises."
"The Odyssey" entered markets such as South Korea, China, and Japan in phases, with its filming on IMAX 70mm format also boosting its big-screen appeal. By mid-August, the film's IMAX channel revenue reportedly reached $346.4 million, with the Chinese market contributing $13 million during its first IMAX weekend.
